Soy Candle Burning Tips
Soy Candle Burning Tips
- When burning your candle it is very important to allow the top layer of wax to melt all the way to the edge of the jar. Soy wax is believed to have a burn memory, so this is especially important the first time you light your candle to keep wax from tunneling in the future. We recommend allowing your candle to burn for at least 3 hours the first time it is lit.
- Re-trim your wick before each use. Soy wax candles burner cleaner than parrifin wax, but all wicks will cause some soot. A common reason is because the wick is too long. If your candle is producing black soot, extinguish the candle and allow the wax to cool. Once the wax is cool, trim the wick and you are ready to re-light your candle.
- Wick should be trimmed to 1/4"-1/3" for best burning results.
- Trimming your wick too short will cause undesirable burning conditions.
- Burn candles away from drafts or fans and never burn near any combustible material like curtains.
- Never leave a lit candle unattended and keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Never leave matches or wick trimmings in the wax.
- Never place lid on a candle jar to extinguish the flame.
- Glass containers may become hot. Be careful if you need to move your candle. Its best not to move your candle while burning or when wax is still hot.
- Discontinue burning candle when there is only 1/4" of wax left in the jar. You can remove left over wax & wick by setting bottom of jar in hot water until wax melts around the edges. Dump out wax and discard. Rinse jar with hot soapy water so that your beautiful glass jar can be reused for something else.
